Watercolorist

I’ve always created art from my childhood in Asheville, NC to being a professional freelance graphic designer for several decades in Wilmington NC. I am also a professional film and television actress.

When I sold my last business–the dinner theater, TheatreNOW–I did not have a graphic design outlet any longer. The selling of the business and the onset of the Covid pandemic found me wanting to create again so picked up some paints and brushes and started back. A watercolor workshop with acclaimed artist, Janice Castiglione in Wilmington NC, got me excited about this new-to-me medium and I’ve been back to painting in earnest.

To practice I’d poach photos of friends’ pets and paint them and then give them away. I’ve gotten a few commissions and have even had a piece in an art show through the Cameron Art Museum School. Coincidentally my piece “Skywatch Emu” was exhibited in a gallery named after my mother, MC Erny. I currently serve as Secretary on the Board of Directors of the Arts Council of Wilmington and serve on the Board of Trustees of Thalian Hall.
