Susan was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she grew up spending family vacations camping and exploring the western half of the United States. This inspired her love of nature and the outdoors, which would greatly influence her art. 

Susan draws inspiration for her artwork from her love of coastal landscapes, sea creatures, and the photographs taken during her travels as a lifetime scuba diver.

Susan passionately explores her creativity through a captivating blend of artistic media. Her primary tools are the vibrant hues of hot wax encaustic, the rich depth of oils, and the transformative nature of sculpture. Each medium allows her to express her unique vision and evoke emotions in ways that resonate deeply with her audience.

In addition to teaching oil, acrylic, encaustic painting, and sculpture classes, Susan conducts lectures at the Cameron Art Museum. She is an active member of the Board of Directors for both the Carolina Beach Mural Project and the Pleasure Island Arts Council. Susan has won numerous awards regionally and nationally, and her paintings are in public and private collections worldwide.
